### Initial Parameters

There are no initial field parameters for this field.

### Viewing the Data

The data that appears in the results for the file field varies depending on the settings for the field or settings for the bloc.

#### Images

For example, if the file is an image, the link to the image will be a link to a Blocworx page where you can view the file, as opposed to it being a publicly available url.

It is possible to make the urls publicly available by using the Bloc Setting [Make Images/Files Public](https://manual.blocworx.com/blocworx-documentation/bloc-editor/bloc-settings/functional-settings#make-images-files-public).

It is also possible to see the image as a preview inside the data by using the [Show Previews of Uploaded Images in Data](https://manual.blocworx.com/blocworx-documentation/bloc-editor/bloc-settings/data-display-settings#show-previews-of-uploaded-images-in-data) setting.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://manual.blocworx.com/blocworx-documentation/bloc-editor/fields-tools-and-charts/file-and-image-fields/file-field.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
