# Separator Field

The Separator Field is a basic field that creates a simple horizontal line in the element that it is created in. Alternatively, text can appear instead of a horizontal line.

![An example of the field sitting between more fields above and below it](/files/-MbcIItm6uqZmAAE5uh0)

![The same field with the Default Text parameter set with some text.](/files/-MbcIZkHdQBllpDl49H-)

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: The content in this field does not get saved in your form submission.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
This is a legacy field, and therefore does not follow the same patterns and standards as newer fields and components. There is nothing in this field that ever interacts with the rest of the form or data in your bloc.
{% endhint %}

### Initial Field Parameters

| Parameter    | Description                                                         |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Default Text | If filled, the text appears instead of a horizontal line seperator. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://manual.blocworx.com/blocworx-documentation/bloc-editor/fields-tools-and-charts/content-editing-components/separator-field.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
